It’s not often I get to photograph a destination wedding in paradise, but this past week I did. I was asked to go to the Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Resort in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to photograph Essie & Matt’s destination wedding. It was wonderful! We showed up on Sunday afternoon to check in and got settled in our Villa. The wedding was set for Tuesday afternoon. We met with the wedding coordinator the day before and everything was set.
Matt & Essie had many of their friends, family, and co-workers come in to enjoy this celebration with them. That alone was super cool! I was able to hang out at the beach and photograph them having drinks before the big day. When it was time, I went over to the Villa where Essie was to get ready. I photographed her dress in the yard and the shoes & jewelry inside. It was hot! Luckily, we were shooting the wedding in a gazebo.
After she was ready we took some shots of just her. Her dress was elegantly simple and perfect for the venue/weather. We were shuttled to the other side of the resort and that’s where everyone was waiting. She was escorted in and the ceremony began. The ceremony was in Spanish, but it was translated. After the ceremony they had their first dance in front of everyone. From their we got golf carts and rode to Serenity Beach for Bride & Groom photos. A storm was coming in so we had to hustle. We were able to get some great shots and then headed back to the Villa for the small reception. From there we all went out to dinner later on. It was a wonderful wedding and an honor to be asked to go and be able to shoot it. Here are some of my favorites from the day:
I love being a Delaware Wedding Photographer! Especially when a Bride to be calls almost 2 years before getting married and wants to hire you because she just loves, loves, loves your photos. We shot their engagement photos last year and that was great. These two are really in love with each other and even though Jason plays tough, he’s a teddy bear when it comes to Heather. Well the big day finally came around. I met Heather and her girls at the Med Spa in Lewes, DE to shoot them getting their hair and makeup done. It started to rain when we were leaving, but it did hold up just enough to get the ceremony in. The Cordrey Center put on a nice spread and as you can see, Heather is a crier. Her dress was stunning! Her dad brought his Nova and I used it to do some of the Bridal portraits. I had a great time and was honored Heather wanted me to document her special day for her. Here are some of my favorites:
I love being a Delaware Wedding Photographer! Meet Abby & Anthony. They were married at the Brandywine Valley Baptist Church off of 202 in Wilmington. We weren’t able to do an engagement session so we were going to meet for the first time at the wedding. Gulp! I met the girls at the church and got to work. I started with the dress and detail shots and then let the girls get ready. From there I was going to shoot Anthony, but he was running late. Double gulp! He showed up with just a little time to spare. The ceremony was beautiful. Once over we headed up to the reception. It was being held at the Arden Gild Hall in Arden, DE. What a neat little find! The setting was very rustic and all the family and friends made it a terrific night. Catering was provided by Delcastle Culinary Arts. They did a great job! Here are some of my favorite shots from the night:
I love being a Delaware Wedding Photographer! Do you know what happens when you shoot two weddings out of a group of three friends? You get to shoot the one that’s already married family photos. I’ve photographed Lisa and her husband two times now at two different weddings and this time we had a more casual meeting. I met them at Silver Lake Park in Dover and they brought along their little girl and Erica, one of my Brides to babysit and get some shots with her God Daughter. We strolled around the park at various locations and got some awesome shots. Here are some of my favorites:
I love being a Delaware Wedding Photographer! I met Sarah last year at a Starbucks nestled in a Safeway for our first client meeting. She brought along her maid of honor, tiny little Taylor, and she hired me. I shot their engagement session earlier this year at their farm. That was a blast! In the blink of an eye 7 months flew by and it was time for the wedding. I met the girls at one of the Bridesmaid’s home. When I got there one of the girls looked familiar and said the same thing about me. Turns out she did the hair for one of my 2012 Brides. Small world! Once ready we headed over to the Marvel Museum down the road. It just so happens that on this day it decided to rain… all day! But we kept chins up and had a great time. The ceremony was sweet and only had a couple of interruptions/moments stolen by their little boy. The reception was fun and event though it didn’t go all night a good time was had! Sarah & Chad left to get on the road to start their honeymoon in Nashville. Here are some of my favorites from the day:
I love being a Delaware Wedding Photographer! Especially when I get to witness something special from a couple. Meet Theresa & Andrew. Theresa contacted me to have me photograph her vow renewal ceremony. She said the first time around they didn’t have a professional photographer, but wanted one for this special occasion. I don’t know the details, but evidently they had been through some rough times. They have three beautiful children and it was a pleasure to be able to document such an important time in their lives. Here are some of my favorites from the service:
I love being a Wedding photographer! Especially when someone finds me as far away as Tennessee. Meet Lacey & Luke. They live in Tennessee, but will be getting married here in Dover next year. Her grandparents live in Dover now, but used to live in Chestertown, MD & that holds a special place in Lacey’s heart. I agreed to meet them there while they were in town visiting her grandparents to shoot the engagement session. It was a little chilly, but still a beautiful day. Lacey & Luke brought a few outfit changes & we got to work. The charm of Chestertown is really super. I’ve driven through a number of times, but hadn’t walked around so this was a good time for me. We ended up getting to know each other and getting some great photos. Here are some of my favorites:
Lacey has a fashion blog too: www.aglimpseofglitter.blogspot.com so check it out if you’re into clothes!
